The young woman in the door froze and knew instantly who we were. Hardly she could believe her own eyes.
“May we come in?” I asked politely.
“Uhm, yes, please, do come in. I guess this was bound to happen on one day. Apologies for my appearance today, I did not expect any visitors,” the young woman replied. It did not take one to know one to recognise the young woman was merely a picture of misery.
She showed us into her living room and immediately felt embarrassed for her creative order, on the other hand, that’s what who she has been. Her flat was the paragon of a creative person who has had her own way of order, which looked like a chaotic mess to most other people. Even though it was chaotic, she knew where everything was, if she needed it. Unless she played easter bunny with herself again and forgot where she put something she held in her hands just half an hour earlier.
“Please, take a seat. Make yourselves comfortable where you desire,” the young woman offered. “Can I offer you anything?” she asked trying to be hospitable to cover her own nervousness.
“Thanks for your kind offer, but we’re fine,” I replied with a smile. My companion Horatio was one of the rather silent kind.
“I guess, I’ve come pretty close with my research. Else, I do not understand why you have come to find me,” the young woman tried to enter a conversation.
“Yes, you have been close. A little too close for our liking,” I admitted.
My eyes wandered through the living room, catching with a short glimpse a part of what she knew the young woman hand in her hands on us.
“May I ask why you have been researching vampires to such an extent? I mean, you do have pretty much every book, movie, TV-series and even watched any available documentary,” I wondered.
The young woman cleared her throat. “Well, I like to research. And I like to do stuff others don’t. Some people research stem cells and cancer, my field of interest lies more in the matters of the unexplained, unknown or so called supernatural,” the young woman then answered.
“And what do you plan on doing with all your gathered knowledge? I mean, don’t get me wrong, but whatever is put down in books or displayed in movies and alike is hardly anything but veritable. In some extremely rare cases, maybe some mentioned ‘observations’ may to some part correspond to truthfulness, but if, then it’s only scratching the surfaces. You may have gathered that already, haven’t you? So, I’m asking you again: what are your intentions with your allocated information?” I enquired.
The young woman shrugged her shoulders. She sat down on the sofa and sipped some of her tea, her eyes insecurely beginning to stare into blankness. Despite she didn’t like spontaneous visitors, she appeared to be unusually calm. For some reason, she did not fear us strangers who just entered her place, enquiring her about her thorough research.
“I guess, I just wanted to find out what I have just come to learn. You are real,” the young woman noted.
